MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A total solar eclipse is expected on April 8th, which is causing some schools to adjust their schedules.
The estimated time for the eclipse in Georgia is between 1:45 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. with maximum exposure occurring around 3:05 p.m.
Wheeler County Schools will have early dismissal at 12:30 p.m. to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Telfair County Schools will have early dismissal. Pre-K bus riders will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. and Pre-K car riders will be dismissed at 11:35 a.m.
Telfair County Elementary car riders will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m. and elementary bus riders will be dismissed at 11:50 a.m.
All middle school and high school students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon.
Peach County Schools will not change their schedule, but they will provide all students with solar eclipse glasses .
